The Nevada Museum of Art exhibit Andy Warhol: Athletes will be on display through January 4, 2014.

Andy Warhol: Athletes features some of the most celebrated sports stars of the 1970s. The collection is comprised of 10 paintings in Warhol’s signature screen-print style. The project was originally commissioned by Warhol’s friend and collector, Richard Weisman, with a portrait of Weisman included in the series.

The exhibition is said to exemplify the changing nature of fame in the twentieth century as sports figures became celebrities in American popular culture. Featured athletes include Muhammad Ali, O.J. Simpson, Tom Seaver, Rod Gilbert, Jack Nicklaus, Dorothy Hamill, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Chris Evert, Willie Shoemaker and Pele.
